Case Study: Kennels

After a disastrous experience with builders this client decided to contact Loddon for advice. It was clear that the builder had no idea of the concept of building suitable kennel runs. I think even the untrained eye can see that from the attempt to start building the walls as shown in the “before” photographs opposite.
Loddon’s design expertise was put into action to create a system where by the first rule was the safety and welfare of the dogs. Another part of the remit was to design an eye pleasing system that enhanced the old refurbished building and gave customer’s confidence that there dogs were going to be kept in exceptionally good conditions with plenty of space.
The site was cleared of all the walls and surveyed. Fortunately there had been a new concrete based laid and good drainage channels with the base falling towards it. Loddon were able to manufacture all of the system totally bespoke to fit all the existing build and produce something rather special. With a few added embellishments like gold coloured finials, arches over the doorways to give plenty of head room, a clear span opening and some laser cut gusset plates to the arches it lifted the project to another level.

Loddon also designed the bespoke dog beds taking into consideration the individual heating arrangements in the kennels. The beds were designed with a perforated material to the back of the bed to allow the heat to radiate through as well as circulate under the bed. These beds were fixed to the walls but hinged so they could be lifted via the hand hole to be cleaned under. The bed surface is removable also for cleaning purposes.
All of the steel work was hot dip galvanised to BS and European standards then powder coated to the customers colour choice. These procedures were both carried out in our own galvanising and powder coating facilities giving us greater control over the quality of finish.
